My eyes flow with rivers of tears
because of the destruction of my people.
Grief is not a lack of faith, nor a sign of doubt in God's promises. Rather, we grieve because we love, and just as Christ grieved and lamented over friend and city alike, we acknowledge that in our grief we are the people that God has molded into God's own image, if not more so.
